Letters: Male volunteers are key

1 min read Letters
Your story that children are put at risk by the failure to engage men in child protection cases serves as a reminder that social workers can't do everything on their own (CYP Now 9-15 November, p1).

CSV volunteers in child protection projects and successfully recruits and matches both male and female volunteers with families. Research shows that volunteers enhance the support offered and greatly improve the lives of families with one or more children at risk of neglect and significant harm. The volunteers have no statutory powers but can create a unique relationship with families, turning a chaotic, dysfunctional home into a happier, stable and safe environment.
