Letters: Hitting is never acceptable

I found Norman Wells' recent letter about the "physical correction" of children very disturbing (Children Now, 23-29 May). Parents and families need better support, better access to information and guidance with parenting, and need help to create safer communities for their children.

The underlying meaning in "physical correction" appears to be thatviolence in the home is permissable.

What message does that send to children and young people and theirparents and carers? Hitting children is wrong. Full stop.
