Letters: Focus on what is working

1 min read Letters
I was interested, and like you disappointed, to find some local authorities do not have a children in care council.

I would like to reassure you that in Stoke-on-Trent we have taken time to develop a council ensuring the process is not an empty one.

Young people who have steered its development are clear every young person in the city must have a voice.

I concede we are not as far along in engaging the majority of young people yet, but the city council is committed to ensuring staff time is allocated to supporting the children in care council and that there is an engagement worker there to support children to engage.

Sometimes I feel it is more important to talk about what has worked, rather than point out what is not working.
