Ofsted's job is to inspect the provision that exists. We do so with a rigorous focus on effectiveness of the service inspected in meeting the needs of children, and much of our evidence comes from speaking directly to young people. We carry out two inspections a year, one without notice. We refute Crook's assertion that our inspections "fail to get to grips with the way children are treated", and the insinuation that we inspect in some way to promote the interests of the companies running the centres.
We stand by our judgment that Rainsbrook STC currently provides an outstanding service for the children it holds.
