I want to welcome your coverage of individual support orders and the supportive comments from Bob Ashford of the Youth Justice Board (CYP Now, 28 May-3 June).
The Youth Taskforce Action Plan sets out our triple-track approach of early intervention, prevention and enforcement, and we firmly believe this is the right way to work with young people at risk of antisocial behaviour and crime.
Far from being a "New Labour gimmick", we are committed to ensuring all young people who receive antisocial behaviour orders are offered the support they need. That is why we have provided £13m to set up 52 Challenge and Support projects across England. Working with 15,000 young people each year these projects will ensure that an individual support order is considered as a matter of course in conjunction with an application for an antisocial behaviour order.
