Letter: Remember heart patients

Everyone knows 14 February was Valentine's Day. But many people may not be aware that it was also Congenital Heart Disease Day and to mark the occasion young people have been baking heart-shaped cookies to raise money for children with half a heart.

This year sees the celebration of Little Hearts Matter's 10thanniversary.

To mark this Tesco's will be selling heart-shaped cookies in theirstores during February.

Up to 600 children are diagnosed with only half a functioning heart eachyear. These children need major surgery within days of birth. More andmore children are living into adulthood, but their hearts will never benormal. Many face a heart transplant in their teens.

So let's spare a thought for children with half a heart this month.
