Letter: London government funding

1 min read
London Play's claim that the Association of London Government's future funding priorities will focus primarily on crisis services is misleading (Children Now, 29 March-4 April).

The association, which funds projects across the capital using moneyprovided by each of London's 33 councils, has consulted widely on ourfuture funding priorities and we are committed to listening to the widerange of views expressed during the consultation.

The association has not yet defined the services it will fund in thefuture although we have put forward a number of suggestions for servicesin our consultation document to encourage debate. We have also produceda separate consultation paper outlining our approach to second-tierorganisations and are in the process of developing our proposals.

We are currently reviewing proposals suggested by a wide range oforganisations and individuals and aim to publish our priorities forfuture funding in September 2006, once they have been agreed by theleaders of all London councils. Our web site provides furtherinformation about our grants review: www.alg.gov.uk/grantsreview
