LETTER: Disability care survey

1 min read
I was interested to read that five local authorities have signed up to the Every Disabled Child Matters campaign to improve services for disabled children (Children Now, 8-14 November).

The Children's Society is currently undertaking a survey ofrepresentatives from children's service teams in London boroughs thatare working with disabled children and young people.

The questionnaire has been addressed to disabled children's teams andlooked-after children teams.

It focuses on practice with disabled young people that are placed awayfrom home.

We would urge all disabled children teams in London local authorities tocomplete and return the surveys if they have not already done so. Bydoing so, they can help us to gain a detailed picture of the methodslocal authorities employ to encourage and promote disabled youngpeople's participation in decision making about matters that affecttheir lives. This will inform the development of resources forprofessional and disabled young people to improve participation in thefuture.
