Letter: Hope for the youth green paper

We welcome the appointment of Beverley Hughes as minister for children, young people and families. We hope that she will continue to ensure that support is available for children and young people of all ages, particularly at major points of change such as the transition to adulthood.

We also hope her experience of promoting community cohesion at the Home Office will translate to new policies, which ensure young people are seen as valuable members of local communities.

As someone who has a background in dealing with issues affecting children and young people, we particularly look forward to hearing her views on the youth green paper and hope she will ensure that the youth offer is robust and benefits young people from all different backgrounds.

Anthony Lawton, chief executive, Centrepoint, London.
