Letter: Breastfeeding

I was dismayed and disgusted to see a picture of a baby being bottle-fed, especially when the first line of the article in question says "midwives will get extra support in boosting breastfeeding" (Children Now, 21-27 June).

The World Health Organisation code for breastfeeding and Unicef bothpromote that no supplementary feeds should be given to a breastfeedingbaby.

Your photograph suggests these support workers are there to givesupplementary feeds.

I believe your periodical to be informative and supportive of theGovernment's multi-agency delivery of children's centres and extendedschools, but this article sends very mixed messages.
