Lady Allen of Hurtwood Trust

Health
What is it? Lady Allen was a pioneer in the field of children's rights and adventure play for disabled children, as well as the founder of Kidsactive, now part of the charity Kids. The travel award from the trust was set up in her memory.

How much is on offer? Awards are normally in the region of up to £1,000.

What will it fund? The money gives professionals the chance to travel and broaden their experience, which they can then apply to their work with children. Applicants must set out full details on how the award will help them gain knowledge which will enhance the quality of their work.

Who can apply? Grants are awarded to people working with children, with an emphasis on those who work with disabled children or children from disadvantaged backgrounds. The closing date for applications is 15 January 2009.
