Funding watch - The Sutton Trust

1 min read Education
What it is: The Sutton Trust gives funding to projects providing educational opportunities for young people from non-privileged backgrounds. The age range of projects includes early years, primary, secondary, further and higher education. The trust is keen to fund start-up projects that could go on to benefit large numbers of young people.

How much is on offer: The Sutton Trust meets several times a year to discuss grants, which range from £200 to £50,000. Most projects can expect to get funding of between £10,000 and £25,000. The trust likes to see a detailed budget from applicants to ensure each project is properly costed.

What it will fund: Projects that provide educational opportunities for young people from non-privileged backgrounds are the focus of the grant. The trust is keen to fund innovative projects, pilot schemes and new research.

Who can apply: Projects across the UK will be considered in any area where there is need, including rural and inner-city areas, but it only funds specialist schools in the London region. It prefers to fund projects in formal education settings.
