Funding Watch - Mediabox

What is it? Mediabox is a Department for Children, Schools and Families fund that gives disadvantaged 13- to 19-year-olds the chance to create their own media projects. All projects should allow young people to gain new skills, express themselves and get their voices heard.

How much is on offer? Mediabox offers a range of grants ranging from £1,000 to £40,000. A new strand, Mini Mediabox - with grants from £1,500 to £5,000 - opened for applications on 1 May.

What will it fund? Mediabox is a multi-media fund; so young people can use funding to express themselves through mediums including photography, print, film or video games. A full list of the types of projects funded is available online.

Who can apply? Mediabox funding is available to all youth and media-focused organisations working with 13- to 19-year-olds in England. Full guidelines for grant applications can be found online at www.media-box.co.uk.
