What does it mean? Oneplace is the friendly new name for the Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA).
In a bid to get normal people to take an interest in inspections, the Audit Commission decided it would be a good idea to scrap the long-winded name in favour of something a bit snappier, and Oneplace is what it came up with.
Oneplace is supposed to convey the essence of what CAA does - after all, CAA inspectors examine all the public services in an area, to draw conclusions about the quality of provision in "one place".
The Oneplace website will launch on 10 December when the first Oneplace reports are published.
People will be able to access the site from the existing Directgov website and it will include a section where the public can peruse "jargon-free, easy-to-read narratives on every place in England".
Steve Bundred, chief executive of the Audit Commission, says: "Our aim is for Oneplace to become the first-choice site for anyone seeking independent information on what is, and isn't, being achieved by public services. This alliance with Directgov will be a major boost to Oneplace, making it accessible to millions of people."
How to use it? Meet with colleagues to discuss how to prepare for your Oneplace.
