I suggest in our response to the Youth Citizenship Commission that we shouldn't reduce the voting age to 16. The Votes at 16 lobby misses the point about why young people are disengaged from the formal political process. Whenever anyone bothers to ask them, they actually say they need better political education. Many colleagues express their disappointment in me. I feel suitably guilty, but ultimately unrepentant.
Tuesday: Sharon Shoesmith announces she is appealing against her sacking over the Baby P case. It's hard for most of us to imagine how difficult her job must have been and I can't help wondering whether she deserved to be forced out by a media witch-hunt.
