Hawks is the only young mayor in the country at the moment and the first young person to be elected for a whole year in London. After beating 40 other candidates between the ages of 12 and 17 from schools and colleges across Lewisham, he now has a 25,000 budget to spend.
So what will he do with the money? His first meeting with "the actual mayor dude", Steve Bullock, will focus on how to allocate the cash, and Hawks suspects this might be the hardest part of the job. "I've had a couple of offers already and it's quite funny. The first thing Steve Bullock said to me was, 'learn to say no'. In the end it's got to be what's most achievable, realistic and productive," says Hawks.
