INTERNATIONAL: Global youth day to promote volunteers

1 min read

Peace Child International, a global non-governmental organisation, is running the event, which mobilises young people to improve their communities.

It aims to show "what an amazing resource young people are".

The event can be used to present the work of youth groups to the media.

It demonstrates the power of the internet in linking young people around the world. The event also helps youth groups to forge partnerships with schools, youth councils and clubs. Global Youth Service Day promotes links regardless of geography and ethnicity.

It was started by Youth Service America in April 2000. Since then it has spread to more than 150 countries and involves millions of young people doing thousands of projects.
