Integrated working improves services

Youth Work
The creation of integrated youth support services has led to improvements in the way youth services are run, according to a National Youth Agency study.

Fifty-eight per cent of the 105 local authority heads of youth services who took part in the study reported an improvement in the standard of youth services. Just over one in five (22 per cent) said the impact of developing an integrated service could already be seen, while 29 per cent said the impact would be seen within the next 12 months.

Only three local authorities reported real difficulties in integrating their youth services.

Jon Adamson, National Youth Agency research co-ordinator, said: "A range of delivery models have emerged from local interpretation of national government policy, but despite this only three authorities reported facing real difficulties in integrated working."
