It is modifying its enhanced youth inspection framework to place a greater emphasis on the five Every Child Matters outcomes. This is designed to bring it in line with Joint Area Reviews of services, and policy developments from the Youth Matters agenda.
A spokeswoman for Ofsted said the main elements of the framework would be unchanged: "The proposed refinements build on the strengths of the existing inspection framework."
Ofsted came up with the modifications following discussions with stakeholders including The National Youth Agency, the Association of Directors of Children's Services, the Community and Youth Workers' Union, and the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services.
