What it is: WheelPower is the umbrella organisation for a number wheelchair sport associations

Goal: To promote disabled and wheelchair sport throughout the UK, andcreate role models for disabled children

Since its launch in 1972, WheelPower has been running sports programmesfor children aged between six and 16.

The organisation's programmes are divided into primary and juniorstages.

The primary programmes concentrate on children aged six to 11 creatingopportunities for children who use wheelchairs to try sports and becoached in a variety of activities.

The junior programme is designed for 11- to 16-year-olds. It allows themto play and be coached in specific sports, in time allowing them toprogress further if they wish to.
