Inside Story: Our Place

1 min read
What it is: A centre that supports families who foster and adopt

Goals: To offer families a place to meet and discuss common interests and concerns, and to tackle problems through individual and family counselling

Funding: Private trust funded with supplemental grants and donations

Contact: Randy Lee Comfort, 0117 951 2433

Randy Lee Comfort, the founder of Our Place, knows exactly what her centre's clients are going through, and also has the professional background to help. A social worker and educational psychologist who has worked for 30 years in the fields of adoption and learning disorders, she is also a mother of birth and adopted children.

Recognising that many children who are in the care system feel "isolated and different", in 1998 she set up Our Place, a registered charity, to support families who foster and adopt, and their children.
