The Scottish Youth Hostels Association set up Give Us a Break as a pilot project earlier this year targeting excluded young people from all backgrounds
It aims to provide opportunities for the most marginalised young people to experience residential holidays at hostels.
For some, that could mean a first trip out of the city, while others could even be going away from home for the first time.
Ruth Whyte, the association's education and inclusion manager, says that bringing together young people from different backgrounds will raise their understanding and foster tolerance, and enable them to "break the cycle of exclusion and enjoy an alternative quality of life".
