The backing of a football league club is a powerful lure for a new scheme promoting health and exercise to families with young children.
Saints Tots involves Saints in the Community, the community arm of Southampton Football Club, working with eight children's centres in and around Southampton. It offers six-week courses comprising of weekly 45-minute sessions for two- and three-year-olds and their parents.
The scheme gained funding from friendly society Deposit Point, which was matched through the government's Sportsmatch scheme, allowing it to employ a full-time Saints Tots officer.
