Information sharing: South Glos youth centre to trial index

Information sharing is to be trialed in a South Gloucestershire youth centre in a bid to identify how best to balance the informal nature of youth work with the need to record data on children.

The trial, which will take place in January, will see young peopleattending Hanham Youth Centre giving youth workers details aboutthemselves for the Information Sharing Index.

Steve Baxter, South Gloucestershire Council's information andperformance data manager, said the trial aimed to address "the dilemmaof collecting information from young people without destroying theinformality of youth work".

For the trial, teenagers will have to give their name and address toyouth workers who will then find them on the index. A registration formfor the teenager to check will then be printed off.
