It's going ahead then? It's aiming to be up and running in England bythe end of 2008. Although based on a central index function that theDepartment for Education and Skills will be contracting out, each localauthority will be responsible for maintaining its own section. The DfEShas issued draft regulations on what is now called the InformationSharing Index. The Government also states that it will be issuingstatutory guidance on some technical issues, such as operation,maintenance, security and access to the system next year.
