Information, advice and guidance: Draft standards outline minimum guidance levels for young

1 min read

The standards, developed for consultation by Mouchel Parkman Learning Services, cover guidance for 11- to-19-year-olds, whether or not they are in education, employment or training, as well as young people with learning difficulties and disabilities up to their 25th birthday.

They cover the full range of issues that young people might seek advice on, although they do not cover targeted support for young people most at risk, or guidance that is not commissioned or delivered by childrens trusts, schools or colleges.

The draft document contains 28 standards aimed at providers of information, advice and guidance and 10 standards aimed at organisations commissioning guidance, such as childrens trusts. Under the standards all young people would be entitled to comprehensive information on the education opportunities open to them after they are 14, as well as personal, social, emotional and career development opportunities available at local, regional and national level.
