Young people from Barnardo's UK projects gathered for a conference last week to showcase some of the charity's existing work with disabled youth groups and to encourage a more focused approach throughout the UK.
Jan Morrison, principal policy and practice officer for disability at Barnardo's, said that as well as celebrating existing projects, the conference would help to plug potential gaps in its services.
"As an organisation, we have gone a long way in child participation, but we've lagged behind in the area of disabled children," said Morrison.
"We're learning there's a lot of good practice among Barnardo's in the UK and we are trying to share it."
