An alternative take on last week's media.

- The Daily Mail fumed over plans to allow teenagers to train as teaching assistants in primary schools. "They are not old enough to vote, drink or even drive," said the paper. "But teenagers as young as 16 could soon be working in primary schools in a desperate bid by the government to fill empty teaching places." The Daily Telegraph quoted shadow schools minister Nick Gibb, who branded the plans "absurd", and Phil Parkin, general secretary of teachers' union Voice. Parkin told the paper: "At 16 years old, the vast majority of young people are simply not mature enough to work in a classroom."
