The qualification, offered by the National College for School Leadership and delivered by a range of providers, has run nationally for three years. A revamped version is due in September.
"We've taken account of all we have learned from extensive evaluation and feedback," says Veronica Wellington, senior programme manager.
A study assessing the impact of the qualification found it was successful, boosting participants' skills and confidence.
Ninety-two per cent said taking part in the programme had led to changes in working practices at their centres.
But the reshaped programme is even more outcomes-focused, explains Wellington. Participants must show their learning has had an impact, whether that's through increased satisfaction among centre users or case studies. There is also more emphasis on inclusion and diversity, springing from the need to ensure centres reach all families.
