Project: Chance 2 Change Project Mission: To help young people build their self-belief Funding: 46,000 from youth offending teams, Connexions and charitable trusts

Chance 2 Change is an intensive intervention based on cognitive behavioural therapy. It is aimed at young people, mainly aged 14 to 16, who have been given a community sentence, or are beginning to get involved in petty crime or antisocial behaviour.

Emma Morris, the project developer and facilitator, started work on the course when she was volunteering for crime-reduction charity Nacro in 2004. Lacking funding, the first course took place in a room donated by the local youth offending team in Chelmsford, Essex. Since then 16 groups have been run - in Chelmsford, Harlow and at Southend United Football Club.
