In Practice: Cash in hand - Abbey Charitable Trust

Abbey Charitable Trust is the charitable arm of Abbey National building society. It only makes donations to registered charities so funding is open to extended schools provision with charitable status or charities that work with schools and children's centres.

The trust funds projects that help disadvantaged families and meet oneor more of its three priorities: education and training, financialadvice, or community regeneration. Most grants are between 500and 4,000 but in areas like Camden, Sheffield, and Milton Keynes, where the trust has a Community Partnership Group, it is possible toapply for up to 20,000. Projects should be suitable for one-offfunding. The trust operates a rolling programme so accepts applicationsby letter at any time of the year.
