The starting point for any centre is consultation as you identify needand plan for delivery. Link in with local community and faith groups togain access to a wide representation of families. Bring local communitychampions on board. Hold consultation events in local public places - bylocal shops or in the park - and disseminate information widely in localmedia. Ensure that information is available in appropriatelanguages.
However, much will be down to ongoing outreach work and dialogue.Involving vulnerable families takes time and needs to be a core functionof the centre rather than an add-on. Taster sessions and one-off eventscan help to begin conversations and respond to any ongoing need forsupport. Also ensure that statutory services are aware of the supportyou can offer.
