In Practice: Ask the experts

I run a number of out-of-school clubs on school premises, but I believe the children would benefit if we were able to work in closer partnership with the school. How can we achieve this?

- Working with schools in partnerships is important for so many aspects of your club provision. Most schools recognise the great work that out-of-school clubs do and are keen to work in partnership. The local authority needs to co-ordinate the early years consultants, the cluster managers and the officers supporting the out-of-school sector to have a strategy for engaging schools and for supporting out-of-school clubs. For example, this could be through a workshop to showcase best practice or by training the clubs to deliver the foundation stage.
