Homophobic bullying: Stonewall calls for schools to act

Schools and local authorities are being urged to take action following a damning survey into homophobic bullying.

The survey of 1,145 gay and lesbian secondary school pupils, by gayequality campaigners Stonewall, found just under two-thirds have beenthe victims of homophobic bullying. A third say school staff, includingteachers, are responsible for homophobic incidents.

Stonewall wants schools to develop policies on the issue and more stafftraining on preventing such incidents.
