Homelessness: Centrepoint gives warning over ads

Anthony Lawton, chief executive of the charity Centrepoint, said Manchester company Centrepoint Nationwide and another company called Centre-point UK have been cold-calling small businesses asking them to buy adverts, and claiming that part of the proceeds go to the charity Centrepoint.

"We want to alert the public to this misleading use of the Centrepoint name," he said.

A spokeswoman for Manchester City Council said it was aware of the problem but was still investigating what action it could take. Neither company was contactable as Young People Now went to press.
