Heritage: Boat design project lands lottery grant

1 min read

Bods has been awarded 23,700 from the Heritage Lottery Fund to pay for groups of young people to research, design and build the ancient one-person boats. So far, 50 young people from Kington Youth Centre and young farmers' clubs in Eardisley and Pembridge have taken part in the scheme.

A spokesman for the Heritage Lottery Fund said: "The project is for rural young people. It's not something they would normally get to do and they can learn about their environment and the history of the area."

The scheme is also part funded by the European Union and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, which have provided 47,255 through the Herefordshire Rivers Leader+ Programme.
