Henley Review of the Funding and Delivery of Music Education - Call for Evidence.

What's it all about? This call for evidence forms part of an independent review of music education, commissioned by Education Secretary Michael Gove. The review is chaired by Darren Henley, managing director of the radio station Classic FM. He will look at widening children and young people's access to high quality music education. Gove believes that broadening young people's understanding of music is essential in order to improve standards and narrow the educational attainment gap.

Who can have their say? Henley is keen to hear recommendations from school teachers, educators, parents, carers, and music specialists, about best practice in delivering music education. Responses are also sought from providers from the public, private and voluntary sectors. Henley's final report will be published along with the public responses later this year.

When is the deadline? Responses should be emailed to music.review@education.gsi.gov.uk before Friday 29 October.
