Consultation of the Week: Education Select Committee Call for Evidence: Services for Young People

1 min read Education
What is it all about? The Education Select Committee is seeking views on the provision of services for young people aged 13 to 25. This call for evidence focuses on after-school and after-college services, and will look at both universal youth provision and targeted services for at-risk young people.

What are the main points?

Evidence is sought on the following areas: how youth services can meet the government's volunteering priorities for young people (including the role of the National Citizen Service); the relationship between universal and targeted services; which young people access youth provision and what role they can play in shaping services; the roles of voluntary, community, statutory and private sectors in youth provision; and how the value and effectiveness of youth services should be assessed. The committee also wants to hear about the impact of spending cuts.

Who can have their say?

The committee would like to see examples of evidence from anyone who works in youth services, and from young people who use the current provision.
