Consultation of the Week: Wolf Review of Vocational Education -- Call for Evidence

1 min read Education
What's it all about? Commissioned by Education Secretary Michael Gove, this independent review of vocational education for 14- to 19-year-olds is chaired by Professor Alison Wolf from King's College London.

According to Gove, the current education system puts too much emphasis on academic achievement. Wolf is therefore reviewing the organisation and delivery of vocational education, and will look at how young people can be incentivised to choose vocational options in the future.

What are the main points? Wolf wants to see vocational education become more flexible so it can be more responsive to the evolving employment market. Areas of the review include how vocational education for 14- to 19-year-olds can be improved; what principles should underpin its content; and how opportunities for progression can be improved.

Who can have their say? Wolf would like to hear the public's opinions on the overall structure of the current vocational education system. She is also seeking views on funding and accountability arrangements, and is interested in seeing evidence of best practice.
