Help from ... The Advisory Centre for Education

The Advisory Centre for Education is an independent national advice centre for parents, school governors and education professionals.

It provides advice through telephone lines, publications and the internet.

Subjects recently covered by its guides include school funding and managing the budget, how to develop a school complaints procedure, and legal requirements on exclusion.

The centre supports good practice by offering training for education professionals, such as courses on admissions and admissions appeals. It also trains and supports advice workers in local organisations who work with disadvantaged, minority ethnic and refugee parents through the Education Step-by-Step project.
