The Maternity Alliance is a national charity working to end inequality and promote the wellbeing of pregnant women, new parents and their babies. It offers an advice service for professionals, which includes the latest information on employment rights, benefits and tax credits for pregnant women and new parents.

Advisers, employers or carers who need clarification on maternitybenefits and rights to pass on to their clients and staff can call anadvice line between 2pm and 4pm, Monday to Thursday. The charity'swebsite includes fact sheets and a special section for teenagemothers.

The alliance also delivers training linked to an outreach programme,produces a range of publications, runs conferences and seminars andundertakes research projects that put pregnancy and parenthood into asocio-economic context.
