Help from ... The Post-Adoption Centre

The Post-Adoption Centre is a charity that provides advice, support and training for those involved in adoption, with the emphasis on skills to aid children and young people.

It provides an extensive training programme for parents and professionals involved in adoption, as well as an advice line. The centre is run by experienced staff who can provide help with difficult cases.

The training programme is a mix of courses covering parenting support, attachment difficulties, behavioural problems, and pre- and post-adoption concerns through to the question of tracing birth parents.

The centre also runs the Post-Adoption Counselling Training and Skills Programme, and offers a scheme where social workers spend time each week at the centre to expand their knowledge of post-adoption work.
