Help from: Children North East

Children North East began life in 1891 as the Poor Children's Holiday Association, which was formed after a one-off seaside holiday for 120 poor children in Newcastle.

Today the charity runs several projects for children in the NorthEast.

These include Sure Start Western Tyneside and Newcastle SupportingFamilies, which supports families facing problems such as homelessness.Other projects include Gateshead Supporting Children, a social inclusionproject working with primary school children, and Facts, a supportservice for families with disabled children covering both Northumberlandand Tyne and Wear.

It also runs a project training volunteer parents to provide support tostruggling families with children under the age of eight.
