Health: Specialist centre for complex needs

Health
A rehabilitation centre for children with acquired brain injuries is to be built by the Children's Trust in Surrey.

The £7m centre at the charity's site in Tadworth, which provides a range of services for children with multiple disabilities and complex health needs, will be funded by grants and donations. It will have 22 beds, a hydrotherapy pool, a family flat and extra staff accommodation.

Chief executive Andrew Ross said: "The family flat is so children who come to us for rehabilitation can have their families staying here close to them while they are getting used to the surroundings."

Construction is due to start in the next couple of months and the centre is set to open to children by April 2009.
