Health
A 8.5m centre for children and young people with disabilities and complex needs opened its doors in Southwark, south London last week.

The Sunshine House centre will enable more than 12,000 children to access specialist services provided by nearly 200 professionals in health, mental health, social care and education.

Facilities at the Southwark Primary Care Trust and Building Better Health, Lambeth Southwark Lewisham Ltd development include a gym with a gait analysis system to help children walk, a sensory room for children with visual or behavioural problems, and observation rooms for use by child and adolescent mental health services.

Melissa Mead, mother of three-year-old Abigail Bolt-Mead who has a genetic motor neurone disease which affects muscles used for crawling, walking and swallowing, said: "It's great that everything is now under one roof, it means we no longer have to travel around."
