HEALTH NEWS: Wales - Water coolers add to school diet plan

Water coolers will be installed at 384 schools in Wales in a bid to improve the health of pupils.

The "Think Water" scheme is a joint initiative from the Welsh Assembly Government and Dwr Cymru Welsh Water.

Its 225,000 cost will be met by the Assembly's Health and Education departments and Dwr Cymru Welsh Water.

A "Healthy Vending" pilot is also being launched. Pupils and caterers have chosen the content of vending machines, including wraps, pasta and fresh fruit.

Health minister Jane Hutt said: "Pupils and caterers will provide feedback, which we will share with other schools."
