The Action Framework for Children and Young People's Health in Scotlandis the Scottish Executive's first attempt to pull together the maintargets for children's health services.
Announcing the 10-year plan, Lewis MacDonald, Scotland's deputy healthminister, described the document as a "one-stop shop", which "for thefirst time outlines and timetables specific measures to deliverintegrated children's services".
The consultation on the framework, released last week, covers all healthservice activity, including mental health, emergency care, specialistservices, workforce planning and involving children, young people andtheir carers.
It also includes measures for improving children's care in remote andrural areas.
Each area should identify GPs or a physician to develop a specialinterest in paediatrics. They would receive accredited training so thatthey can help support the delivery of child health in local areas.
