The scheme, due to be completed within the next month, will enable consultant paediatricians to access advice from consultant cardiologists at the Glasgow hospital, where the majority of cardiac interventions in Scotland are carried out.
Seven of the 10 neonatal units planned for the country have so far installed the equipment.
After discussing opinions on the phone about the condition of a baby, paediatricians use the equipment to conduct a "face-to-face" discussion with paediatric specialists and are able to share ultra-sound images.
