HEALTH NEWS: Participation - Alder Hey sets up information centre

Alder Hey, the Royal Liverpool Children's Hospital, has used ideas from its young patients in the creation of a new Child and Family Information Centre.

The centre, which officially opens at the end of this month, will contain information on local health-related services, and has been developed with children, their parents and carers in mind.

It will also offer internet access and will focus mainly on health and social information, but the hospital is looking to develop partnerships with other agencies too.

Alder Hey has established a Children's Forum, made up of 10 children who will be consulted on how the information centre should develop.

The information centre staff will liaise with clinical staff when required.

"We don't want to take the information away from the wards," said a spokeswoman.
