2.3 decayed, missing or filled teeth in under-fives (1.47 in England)

43.4 conceptions per 1,000 girls aged 15 to 17 in 2002 (42.6 in England)

9% of babies weighed less than 2,500 grams at birth between 1998 and 2002 (7.7 per cent in England)

Since 2000, rates of conceptions in girls aged under 16 and under 18 have been falling. Rates in Liverpool have decreased by 22 per cent during the period.

Actions to decrease the rates across Liverpool focus on good-quality school-based sex education, youth development programmes and better inclusion of teenage parents in education and training.
